Get a phone numberA local number for your assistant, included in a voice plan.Applies to: Voice plans, account ownersThe number costs you nothing extra — it comes with your plan. Buying one takes a few minutes because the phone network requires a registered service address for an Australian number.How to do it

Open Chat & Voice Settings › Phone Number.

Press the button to set a number up, and choose which assistant it is for.

Give your business address. This is a regulatory requirement and it is checked against the national address database. If it comes back with a slightly different spelling of your own address, that is the database — you can accept its version with one click.

Choose a number from the list.

Confirm. It can take a minute before the first call connects.

Only an account owner can do this, and only on a voice plan.If you are told a document review is needed, that is the phone network checking your business details. It takes days rather than minutes and there is nothing to retry — we will come back to you.If your subscription lapses, the number is held for you for a month rather than released, so re-subscribing gets the same number back.Where this is in your dashboard

Frequently asked questionsCan I choose the area code?You can search by the town or a run of digits you want the number to contain. Australian numbers cannot be filtered by area code the way American ones can.Can it receive text messages?Generally not.
